Rules flouted for Sasikala’s elevation as AIADMK General Secretary: Election Commission

In a fresh jolt to Sasikala Natarajan in her bid to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, the Election Commission has said that no rules were followed by the AIADMK in selecting her as the party’s temporary General Secretary.

The poll panel has sought a copy of the resolution and other details about Sasikala’s elevation to the party’s top post.

The Election Commission, however, said it has not sent any notice to the AIADMK. What this implies is that Sasikala has no authority to remove Panneerselvam as an AIADMK treasurer or even member.

Will retrieve AIADMK from Sasikala’s clutches

Chennai: The Election Commission should consider the extraordinary political situation in Tamil Nadu and soon decide on the legal status of AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala, a former party parliamentarian said on Wednesday.

KC Palaniswamy also said party cadres who oppose Sasikala would start the movement to retrieve the AIADMK headquarters, Jaya TV and the Poes Garden residence of late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa from the occupiers.
